Executive Director
The Scarborough Academic Family Health Team (SAFHT) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and community-focused Executive Director to lead our organization in delivering high-quality, equitable, and patient-centred primary care. This full-time senior leadership role reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of SAFHT’s operations, including clinical program delivery, financial stewardship, human resources, strategic planning, facilities, information systems, and government relations. The Executive Director will also play a key role in maintaining and strengthening SAFHT’s relationships with partner organizations, the Ministry of Health, and the Ontario Health Teams.
The Executive Director will be responsible for translating SAFHT’s strategic direction into effective operational plans, aligning service delivery with community needs, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence. The role requires sound financial oversight, risk management, and organizational design to ensure long-term sustainability and service effectiveness. The Executive Director will supervise and support managers and staff, ensuring appropriate hiring, training, evaluation, and performance development processes are in place. They will guide the organization in adapting to changes in the healthcare landscape, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and ministry contracts, and proactively identifying opportunities for quality improvement and system collaboration.
The ideal candidate will bring a Master’s degree in a relevant field (such as health administration, public health, or business) and at least five years of senior management experience, preferably within the healthcare or community services sector. Experience working with a non-profit Board of Directors, as well as a solid understanding of health system policy, primary care models, and provincial healthcare structures, is essential. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to build strong internal teams and external partnerships. Familiarity with program planning and evaluation, budget management, human resources best practices, and privacy legislation is also required.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a respected, multi-disciplinary primary care organization in one of Ontario’s most vibrant and diverse communities. If you are a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who is passionate about improving access to high-quality healthcare, we welcome your application.
